Sensex Ends 59 Points Down, Nifty Ends Below 17,300

Market Close: Benchmark indices ended lower for the third consecutive session on February 18 dragged by pharma, realty, oil & gas stocks.

At close, the Sensex was down 59.04 points or 0.10% at 57,832.97, and the Nifty was down 28.30 points or 0.16% at 17,276.30. About 1129 shares have advanced, 2141 shares declined, and 112 shares are unchanged.

ONGC, Divis Labs, UltraTech Cement, Cipla and Shree Cements were the top Nifty losers. Gainers included Coal India, SBI Life Insurance, HDFC, Bajaj Auto and Larsen and Toubro.

On the sectoral front, except bank and capital goods, all other indices ended in the red with oil & gas and realty indices down 1 percent each. BSE Smallcap and Midcap indices are also ended lower.

Market at 3 PM

Benchmark indices erased all the intraday gains and trading flat with selling across the sectors barring capital goods and banks.

The Sensex was up 2.52 points or 0.00% at 57894.53, and the Nifty was down 8.10 points or 0.05% at 17296.50. About 1075 shares have advanced, 2080 shares declined, and 92 shares are unchanged.

Market at 1 PM

Benchmark indices were trading near the day’s high levels supported by bank, capital goods, power and metal names.

The Sensex was up 230.88 points or 0.40% at 58122.89, and the Nifty was up 61.40 points or 0.35% at 17366. About 1396 shares have advanced, 1686 shares declined, and 95 shares are unchanged.

Market at 10 AM

Benchmark indices were trading flat amid volatility with buying saw in the power stocks.

At 10:03 IST, the Sensex was down 44.50 points or 0.08% at 57847.51, and the Nifty was down 13.80 points or 0.08% at 17290.80. About 1223 shares have advanced, 1579 shares declined, and 115 shares are unchanged.

At 09:16 IST, the Sensex was down 135.20 points or 0.23% at 57756.81, and the Nifty was down 39.60 points or 0.23% at 17265. About 734 shares have advanced, 1128 shares declined, and 74 shares are unchanged.

Wipro, Tech Mahindra, Cipla, Nestle and HDFC Bank were among major losers on the Nifty, while gainers were Coal India, NTPC, UPL, Tata Steel and IOC.
