Bappi Lahiri Dies In Mumbai At 69, PM Modi; Amit Shah And Celebrities Pay Tribute

Legendary singer and music composer Bappi Lahiri passed away on Tuesday night i.e on February 15. The singer was admitted to Mumbai’s Criticare Hospital where he breathed his last. He was 69.

Soon after the news of Bappi Da’s demise, several people took to Twitter and paid condolences to the family. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh among others also remembered the versatile singer.

Prime Minister Modi shared a throwback picture with the late singer and talked about his lively nature. “Shri Bappi Lahiri Ji’s music was all-encompassing, beautifully expressing diverse emotions. People across generations could relate to his works. His lively nature will be missed by everyone. Saddened by his demise. Condolences to his family and admirers. Om Shanti,” he wrote.

Home Minister Amit Shah also expressed grief and mentioned that Bappi Da’s demise will create a void that can never be filled. “Pained to learn about the passing away of legendary singer and composer, Bappi Lahiri Ji. His demise leaves a big void in the world of Indian music. Bappi Da will be remembered for his versatile singing and lively nature. My condolences to his family and admirers. Om Shanti,” he tweeted.

BJP President JP Nadda, Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, Congress leader Priyanka Chaturvedi and other politicians across party lines paid tribute to the composer-singer.

Anushka Sharma took to Twitter to mourn the demise of Bappi Lahiri. The actress tweeted, “Thank you for so many happy memories with your music to millions, Bappi da. My deepest condolences and strength to friends, family, and fans.”

Shekhar Kapur remembers Bappi Lahiri. “When I was struggling to find my place in cinema before I became a director. Bappi Lahiri was already a star composer. He composed some beautiful melodies for our film Toote Khilone, that are still remembered and sung today decades later,” Kapur tweeted.

Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt expressed grief over Bappi Lahiri’s demise. The actor tweeted, “Shocked to hear about #BappiLahiri Ji’s demise. Bappi Da, you have left the world, but you will stay in our hearts forever. My deepest condolences to the family.”

Bollywood actor Vicky Kaushal took to his Instagram stories to pay a heartfelt tribute to Bappi Lahiri. “Thank you for your melodies, Bappi Da. RIP,” Vicky wrote.

Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal tweeted, “Received the sad news of famous singer and musician Bappi Lahiri’s demise. The passing away of Bappi da is a big loss for the world of music. May God rest the departed soul at his feet and provide strength to his relatives and admirers to bear this loss.”

Bollywood actress Bhumi Pednekar is “heartbroken” by the demise of Bappi Lahiri. The actress shared a throwback pic of Bappi Lahiri on her Instagram account and wrote, “Complete Loss Of Words. Heartbroken by the demise of The legendary Bappi Lahiri Ji. Truly a big loss. My condolences to his family and fans. Your music will live on forever sir.”

Bappi Lahiri was known for delivering popular songs in several films of the late 1970s-80s like Chalte Chalte, Disco Dancer, and Sharaabi. His last Bollywood song titled Bhankas was for the 2020 film Baaghi 3.

Bappi Lahiri ruled the music industry for several years and had given hits such as I am a Disco Dancer, Raat Baaki, Pag Ghoongroo, Bambai Se Aaya Mera Dost, Naino Main Sapna, TaakiTaaki, Humko Aaj Kal Hain Intezaar, Tamma Tamma, Yaad Aa Raha Hai, Yaar Bina Chain Kahan Re, among many others.

Bappi Lahiri was last seen on Bigg Boss 15, where he had come to promote the launch of his grandson Swastik’s new song, Baccha Party. It was his first and last appearance on Bigg Boss.
