India on Tuesday witnessed a decline in Covid cases with 5,439 fresh infections reported in the last 24 hours, against previous day’s 7,591 count, the Union Health Ministry said.
Meanwhile, the active caseload has come down to 65,732 cases, accounting for 0.15 per cent of the total positive cases.
As per the health ministry report, the nationwide Covid-related deaths toll stands at 5,27,799.
The recovery of 22,031 patients in the last 24 hours took the cumulative tally to 4,38,25,024. Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.66 per cent.
Meanwhile, the Daily Positivity rate has marginally dropped to 1.70 per cent, while the Weekly Positivity Rate stands at 2.64 per cent.
Also in the same period, a total of 3,20,418 tests were conducted across the country, increasing the overall tally to over 88.55 crore.
As of Tuesday morning, India’s Covid-19 vaccination coverage exceeded 212.17 crore, achieved via 2,82,59,616 sessions.
Over 4.02 crore adolescents have been administered with a first dose of Covid-19 jab since the beginning of vaccination drive for this age bracket.
Maharashtra on Tuesday recorded 1,444 fresh coronavirus cases, a rise of 634 from a day ago, while eight more patients died due to the infection in the state, said the health department.
With these additions, the state’s overall COVID-19 tally rose to 80,98,738, while the death count increased to 1,48,242, said the department in a bulletin.
Mumbai logged 516 cases and three coronavirus-related deaths in the last 24 hours, said the bulletin.
Kolhapur recorded two deaths, while Thane and Nagpur cities and Chandrapur district registered one death each, it said.
The state’s coronavirus fatality rate stood at 1.83 per cent, while the recovery rate was 98.03 per cent.
The health department said 2,006 patients recovered from the coronavirus infection in the last 24 hours, taking their cumulative count to 79,39,594 and leaving the state with 10,902 active cases.
Odisha’s Covid-19 tally rose to 13,27,382 on Tuesday as 232 more people, including 38 children, tested positive for the infection, a health bulletin said. The toll increased to 9,175 as a 69-year-old man succumbed to the disease in Kandhamal district, it said.
Fifty-three other patients have died due to comorbidities so far.
Delhi on Monday reported 214 fresh COVID-19 cases with a positivity rate of 3.77 per cent, while four more people succumbed to the viral disease, according to data shared by the city health department. The new cases came out of 5,683 tests conducted the previous day, the department said in its latest bulletin.
With the fresh cases and fatalities, Delhi’s infection tally increased to 19,98,858 and the death toll climbed to 26,462, it said.
The city on Sunday logged 397 COVID-19 cases with a positivity rate of 3.05 per cent and five fatalities.
The health department did not issue the daily bulletin on Saturday.
On Friday, Delhi recorded 620 COVID-19 cases with a positivity rate of 3.74 per cent and two fatalities.
It logged 702 cases on Thursday with a positivity rate of 4.49 per cent and four fatalities.
On Wednesday, the city recorded 945 cases with a positivity rate of 5.55 per cent and six fatalities.
The number of active COVID-19 cases in Delhi stood at 2,259. As many as 1,806 patients are in home isolation, the latest bulletin said.
Of the 9,405 beds reserved for COVID-19 patients in various Delhi hospitals, 266 are occupied, it said.
There are 200 containment zones in the city, it added.
The number of daily COVID-19 cases in Delhi touched the record high of 28,867 on January 13 this year during the third wave of the pandemic.
