Unnao Dalit Girl Murder: Yogi Ji, You Should Stop Talking About Law And Order In Your Speeches, Says Priyanka Gandhi

The death of a Dalit woman in Uttar Pradesh’s Unnao has raised the political heat in the state and now Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi has criticised CM Yogi Adityanath and asked why action on the case was not taken earlier.

Priyanka tweeted, “What took place in Unnao is not new to Uttar Pradesh. A Dalit woman’s mother kept running from pillar to post for her daughter and, in the end, she got her daughter’s body. The administration did not listen to her. Instead of doing politics on the issue, the BJP should answer why the administration did not listen to the mother in January?”

Lashing out at CM Yogi Adityanath, she tweeted, “Yogi ji, you should stop talking about law and order in your speeches. Under your administration, women have to struggle to get justice. When they are tortured and killed, nobody listens to them.”

“Women are tortured, but you remain busy making false promises,” she said.

Priyanka Gandhi also spoke to the mother of the victim and extended her support to her. She told the victim’s mother, “I am with you, I will support you in your fight.”

The girl, whose body was found buried in a plot owned by Samajwadi Party leader Fateh Bahadur Singh’s son Rajol Singh, had been missing for two months. Her mother had filed a missing person’s report on December 8. She had run from pillar to post but in vain. Fateh Bahadur Singh was a minister in the Akhilesh Yadav government.

The victim’s mother blamed Rajol Singh for her disappearance. However, the police allegedly did not take the matter seriously. On January 24, the mother jumped in front of Akhilesh Yadav’s car in Lucknow.

The body was recovered on Thursday when the Sadar Kotwali Police SWAT team reached the spot and dug out the body – buried four feet under the ground. The decomposed body was found wrapped in a blanket and dumped in a septic tank. The autopsy revealed that she was strangulated. The post-mortem report also showed that her neck was broken.
