Rahul Gandhi Moves Adjournment Notice In Lok Sabha

Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, too, moved an adjournment notice in Lok Sabha demanding the removal of Minister of State for Home Ajay Misra, whose son is an accused in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence case.

In his notice, Rahul Gandhi has sought for adjourning the business of the House and demanded that the Special Investigation Team’s (SIT) report on the Lakhimpur Kheri incident be taken up for discussion.

“The UP Police SIT report has highlighted that massacre of farmers at Lakhimpur was a pre-planned conspiracy and not a negligent act. The SIT has recommended for the modification of the charges against all the accused,” the Congress leader said in his notice submitted to the Lok Sabha secretary-general.

“The government should immediately sack the MoS, Home Affairs, Ajay Kumar Mishra, and ensure that justice is delivered to the families of the victims,” Gandhi said in his notice.

Responding to the Congress MP’s adjournment notice, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi said, “Rahul Gandhi better behaves now, he has started giving out notices. We will see what happens in the House according to the rules.

Leader of Congress in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said the party will demand as a whole that MoS Ajay Misra be removed from his post by the government.

“If PM Modi has even an iota of devotion for Ganga Mata, he must advise his minister (Ajay Misra Teni) to resign or he himself should decide & sack him. I think it’ll further enhance his image because he’s working on image makeover right now,” Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury sniped.

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla adjourned the House till 2 pm amid uproar by Opposition MPs over the Lakhimpur Kheri incident.

Congress MP Deepender Singh Hooda has given an adjournment motion notice in the Rajya Sabha over the killing of farmers at Lakhimpur Kheri as well. The Upper House has been adjourned till noon as Opposition members created a ruckus over the suspension of 12 MPs.

Meanwhile, BJP MPs are holding a protest in Parliament premises over the Opposition’s attempt to disrupt House proceedings. Their allegation is that Opposition MPs are deliberately not allowing Parliament to function.
