Aday after dropping a major hint for the party’s chief ministerial candidate for Uttar Pradesh, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Saturday clarified that she did not say she was going to be the CM face.
Priyanka Gandhi said, “I am not saying that I am the [CM] face [of Congress in the Uttar Pradesh elections]. I said that in irritation because you all were asking the same question again and again.”
On Friday, after releasing the Congress’s ‘youth manifesto’ for the upcoming UP Assembly polls, Priyanka Gandhi also hit out at Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath over his 80% vs 20% remark.
“He [CM Yogi] is saying 80% vs 20%. Truth is that it’s 99% vs 1%. The truth is that in this country, including UP, there are few friends of govt and big business who’re benefitting, everybody else is in great pain.,” she added.
Last week, CM Yogi Adityanath said that the UP assembly election is a battle between 80% and 20%. A political war erupted following the CM’s remark with the opposition parties alleging it had a communal undertone.
“Why are we not talking about the percentage of unemployed people in UP? Why are we not talking about the budget that the govt is spending on education? Why are we addressing the questions that have nothing to do with the progress of UP,” she added.
Priyanka Gandhi also raised questions over Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati’s silence ahead of the state polls.
