India recorded 9,520 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, taking the overall Coronavirus tally to 4,43,98,696. According to the Union Health Ministry, India recorded 41 deaths in the last 24 hours due to Covid, bringing the total number of Covid-related fatalities to 5,27,597.
The active cases comprise 0.22 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate stands at 98.59 per cent, the ministry said.
The daily positivity rate was recorded at 4.15 per cent and the weekly positivity rate at 3.59 per cent, the ministry said.
25,86,805 Covid vaccine doses administered in last 24 hours
211.39 crore total vaccine doses (94.15 crore second dose and 14.98 crore booster dose) have been administered so far under the nationwide vaccination drive.
Maharashtra on Saturday reported 1,723 COVID-19 cases and six deaths, which took the tally to 80,94,845 and the toll to 1,48,224, a health official said.
This was a drop from the 1,846 cases recorded a day earlier, though the fatalities were higher, he pointed out.
Of the new cases, Mumbai Circle accounted for 1,144 cases, followed by 264 in Pune Circle, 154 in Nashik Circle, 58 in Kolhapur Circle, 43 in Nagpur Circle, 39 in Latur Circle, 12 in Aurangabad Circle and nine in Akola Circle.
Odisha’s COVID-19 tally rose to 13,26,672 today as 289 more people, including 54 children, tested positive for the infection, a health department bulletin said.
The COVID-19 death count rose to 9,171 as a 65-year-old woman succumbed to the disease in Kalahandi district. Fifty-three other patients have died due to comorbidities so far, it said.
Odisha had recorded 296 infections and two fatalities on Friday.
The state now has 1,989 active COVID-19 cases, while 286 more people recuperated in the last 24 hours, taking the total number recoveries to 13,15,459.
The daily positivity rate was at 1.58 per cent as 18,287 samples were tested for the infection in the last 24 hours.
Meanwhile, Moderna said Friday it is suing rival vaccine makers Pfizer and BioNTech, alleging the partners infringed on its patents in developing their shot for COVID-19.
