The Opposition alliance, he said, had lost to the BJP in Uttar Pradesh previously and would be defeated again.

Mr. Shah was addressing an election meeting ahead of nomination filing by Adityanath from the Gorakhpur Urban assembly seat.

The Union Minister also praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for taking special care of development particularly of the Purvanchal region.

Shah took aim at Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav saying that ‘goonda raj’ has been contained under Yogi rule and said that people like Mukhtar Ansari, Azam Khan and Atiq Ahmed will be punished for their wrongdoings.

While addressing the BJP supporters in Gorakhpur, the Union home minister highlighted the Modi government’s social welfare schemes like Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, Ayushman Bharat and COVID-19 vaccination drive that helped the people of UP immensely.

Shah further said Adityanath led government in the state ensured that all welfare schemes reached the needy on a timely basis.

Besides Union minister Dharmendra Pradhan, chiefs of BJP allies Apna Dal and NISHAD party were present on the occasion.
