India Thrashed Afghanistan By 66 Runs In T20 WC

Needing a victory to avoid a shock early elimination from the Men’s T20 World Cup, India thrashed Afghanistan by 66 runs on Wednesday.

Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul gave the Indians the perfect start, putting on 140 for the first wicket.

Robust late hitting from Hardik Pandya and Rishabh Pant saw the pre-tournament favourites to 210 for 2 – the biggest score so far in the tournament.

The Afghan innings were all about limiting the size of the loss – especially after the early departures of openers Mohammad Shahzad and Hazratullah Zazai.

Many better sides would struggle against bowlers of the quality of Jasprit Bumrah and Ravichandran Ashwin – so shame in managing 144 for 7. Janat clubbing 42 off 22 balls late on.
