Rahul Dravid will succeed Ravi Shastri as head coach of the India men’s cricket team following the conclusion of the ICC Twenty20 (T20) World Cup.
Dravid’s two-year term will begin with India’s home T20 and Test series against New Zealand from 17th November.
India has endured a disappointing T20 World Cup campaign in the United Arab Emirates and Oman so far, and the pre-tournament favourites have suffered heavy eight and 10 wicket defeats to New Zealand and arch-rivals Pakistan respectively.
Dravid coached India A and India under-19 teams for four years from 2016 to 2019, with the latter side having reached two World Cup finals under his guidance – losing to the West Indies in 2016 and winning against Australia in 2018.
