Former Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar’s son Utpal Parrikar will file his nomination from the Panaji assembly constituency today as an independent candidate ahead of the Goa Assembly Election this year.
He also offered prayers at Mahalaxmi Temple in Panaji ahead of filing the nomination.
Earlier, Aam Aadmi Party national convener Arvind Kejriwal had invited Utpal Parrikar to join the AAP after he was excluded from the BJP’s list of candidates for the election in the state.
After that, BJP leader and Goa in-charge CT Ravi said Manohar Parrikar wanted the party to come back to power and his son Utpal Parrikar should fulfil the dream of his father.
He also said the BJP carried the legacy of the former Goa chief minister and that his son should stay with the party.
The Goa Assembly election 2022 will be held on February 14. The counting of votes will take place on March 10.
