Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova clinched their maiden WTA Finals doubles title on Wednesday, beating former champion Hsieh Su-Wei and her partner Elise Mertens 6-3, 6-4.
Three consecutive breaks of serve decided the first set, with Czech pair Krejcikova and Siniakova taking two of them to lead 5-3 before serving it out.
Hsieh, who was playing in her fourth doubles final at the season-ending event, was broken in the opening game of the second set.
Top seeds Krejcikova and Siniakova held serve the rest of the way to finish the week unbeaten and make up for a straight-set defeat to Timea Babos and Kristina Mladenovic in 2018 final.
The final victory also clinches the year-end WTA Doubles World No.1 ranking for Siniakova, who will displace Hsieh at the top when the next rankings are released. All four of the players who competed in the final have held the WTA Doubles World No.1 ranking during their careers.
