Voting is currently underway for the first phase of assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh. As many as 2.27 crore voters of 58 seats will decide the fate of 623 candidates.
The first phase covers the Jat-dominated belt of UP’s western region. Till now, the voting process has been peaceful. However, there were reports of EVMs and VVPATs malfunctioning at some polling stations. The polling authorities said that these complaints are being addressed immediately.
According to the latest trends of the Election Commission, a voter turnout of 48.24% has been recorded in Uttar Pradesh till 3 pm.
