Glenn Philips’ century and Trent Boult’s four wickets helped New Zealand thrash Sri Lanka by 65 runs in the 27th game of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 at the SCG on Saturday (Oct 29). Glenn Phillips scored 104 off 64 balls after which Trent Boult recorded figures of 4/13.
Sri Lanka’s bowlers took three wickets from the New Zealand team at the start of the match, after which Glenn Phillips scored a century and set a target of 167 runs in front of Sri Lanka. Kasun Rajitha took 2 wickets for Sri Lanka, while de Silva, Hasaranga, Theekshana and Kumara got 1-1 wicket.
2nd half of the match, Trent Boult’s fast bowling broke the back of the Sri Lankan batsmen. Boult took 4/13, Santner 2/21, Sodhi 2/21, Southee 1/12, and Ferguson 1/35.
