India reported a total of 1,581 fresh coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, taking the COVID-19 tally to 4,30,10,922. According to Union health ministry data, the active cases declined further to 23,913 today.
The active cases comprise 0.06 per cent of the total infections. The national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.74 per cent, it showed.
A reduction of 2,741 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours. The daily positivity rate was recorded at 0.28 per cent, while the weekly positivity rate stood at 0.39 per cent, the ministry said.
The Union territory of Puducherry did not report any fresh coronavirus cases and fatalities for a second straight day, a senior Health Department official said today.
The cumulative COVID-19 caseload remained at 1,65,772 while the number of deaths stood at 1,962, Director of Health G Sriramulu said in a release.
The Health department tested 463 samples during the last 24 hours ending 10 am today.
The number of active cases dropped to 11 with all the patients in-home quarantine, he said, adding that two persons recovered during the last 24 hours. The overall recoveries stood at 1,63,799.
The Health Department has so far tested 22,26,041 samples and has found 18,70,708 out of them to be negative.
The Director of Health said the test positivity rate was zero while the fatality and recovery rates were 1.18 per cent and 98.81 per cent respectively.
He said that the department has so far administered 16,16,148 vaccine doses which comprised 9,35,974 first doses, 6,66,769 second and 13,405 booster doses.
The number of active COVID-19 cases in Arunachal Pradesh dipped to six, after three more persons recuperated from the disease, a senior health department official said today.
The COVID-19 tally in the northeastern state remained at 64,484, as no fresh case was registered, while the total number of recoveries increased to 64,182, he said.
The number of coronavirus deaths in the state remained unchanged at 296, as no fresh fatality was reported in the past 24 hours, State Surveillance Officer (SSO) Dr Lobsang Jampa said.
The COVID-19 recovery rate now is 99.53 per cent, the official said.
The Capital Complex Region comprising Itanagar, Naharlagun, Nirjuli and Banderdewa areas, has three active COVID-19 cases, followed by Upper Siang, Lohit and Anjaw districts with one each, the SSO said.
A total of 12,68,101 samples have been tested for the infection in the state so far, including 134 on Monday, Jampa said, adding that the positivity ratio remained at 0.59 per cent.
State Immunisation Officer (SSO) Dr Dimong Padung said over 16,52,148 people have been inoculated with COVID-19 vaccine so far in the state.
