Today will be the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup tournament begins. Australia is hosting T20 WC for the first time. Hosts Australia is the defending champions of the T20 World Cup. Australia will look to carry on with their win like last time they defeated New Zealand in last year’s T20 World Cup. Last time Australia won its first T20 World Cup. Defending champions Australia and New Zealand will kick-start the Super 12 stage with a clash on October 22 at 12:30 PM IST.
Aussies are the favorites to triumph this time around as well. But On the other hand, New Zealand will come out to avenge their first win and last time’s defeat. At the same time, New Zealand, who played in three finals of the ICC tournament in the last four years, could not win even once.
The best thriller match of the World Cup will be between India and Pakistan. India begins its 2022 T20 World Cup campaign against Pakistan at the MCG on Sunday (1:30 PM IST). Last time India lost to its arch-rival by 10 wickets.
India hasn’t won a T20 World Cup since 2007. India though has been quite formidable when it comes to clashes with Pakistan at the T20 World Cups. The two arch-rivals have faced each other on six occasions at the stage with India winning five matches to Pakistan’s one.
In a massive upset in the T20 World Cup 2022, the Ireland side knocked out two-time champions West Indies out of the tournament.
Venues
The T20 World will have a total of 45 matches that will be played across 7 venues – Adelaide, Brisbane, Geelong, Hobart, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney.
The semi-finals will be played at the Sydney Cricket Ground and the Adelaide Oval. The high-stakes final will be played at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground on November 13.

Format
The top two teams in both Groups A and B have advanced to the Super 12 phase where they will meet the other 8 teams who have already qualified. The Super 12 round begins on October 22 and comprises two Groups, each of which will have six teams – four teams that have already qualified plus two qualifiers each from Round 1.
Teams in both Groups 1 and 2 will lock horns once each with the other five teams in their groups to try and finish in the top two. The top four teams (two from each group) of the Super 12 round will then qualify for the semi-finals.
