Mamita Meher Murder Case: BJP, Congress Protests Demanding Action Against Odisha Minister

A day before Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s scheduled visit to the Kalahandi district, the opposition BJP and Congress intensified their protests over school teacher Mamita Meher’s murder case.

From silent prayer to rally for justice, the Opposition parties have turned the heat on the Odisha government over the sensational lady teacher Mamita Meher murder case.

While the Congress party observed two-minute silent prayer meetings across the Kalahandi district on Sunday, the BJP organised a rally to press for the dismissal of Minister of State (Home) Dibya Shankar Mishra for his alleged complicity in the case.

Senior Congress leader, Bhakta Das said that the party has appealed to people to observe a ‘Janata Curfew’ as a mark of protest during Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s scheduled visit to Kalahandi.

Kalahandi MP Basant Panda said that the party will organise rallies in the parliamentary constituency to press for justice for Mamita for the next 12 days.

“The Nyay (Justice) Yatra, demanding justice for Mamita, will continue for 12 days in Kalahandi parliamentary constituency to save the interest of people. We will continue with our agitation till the concerned Minister is not dismissed and a CBI probe is not ordered.”
